We apologise for the serious delay in the publication of Culture and Cosmos. This has been due to pressures caused by the transfer of the Sophia Centre to the University of Wales, Lampeter, where it is now located within the Department of Archaeology, History and Anthropology. The Centre is teaching the MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology as an on-line programme, with currently around forty-five students and six research students.

The Sophia Centre’s strategic plan now calls for it to make a contribution to research in the subject area - the understanding of the role, nature and function of astrology, astronomy and cosmology, regardless of period or culture. To this end the Centre will be developing a series of limited research fellowships and grants which will be notified on the Centre’s website. The Centre’s remit is cultural, so any supported activities should be historical, anthropological, sociological or philosophical. We are also in the process of creating the Sophia Centre Press, as a commercial spin-out development from the University and will be developing a list in cultural astronomy and astrology.

The Centre will also be concentrating on other print and on-line publications in order to make research in the field more widely available.

We currently have three further issues of Culture and Cosmos in preparation, to complete the series for the years 2008-9, and will be publishing the special issue on Johannes Kepler’s astrology in 2010.
